Astronomy Presentation Event in the Astronomy Week

The astronomy presentation event scheduled in the Astronomy Week 2020 was held on 20th of  February at the school auditorium. There were 28 presentations presented by group of students. It was a first experience for many students to present in front of  audience using multimedia. They had used PowerPoint and Sway tools to make the presentation. The students had selected very interesting topics. This event was a very interesting session for them. Students from grade 6 to 13 participated and presented in their work. The three best presentations selected in the event got opportunity to present at the final day astronomy night. Many students actively participated  in the presentation. 

Astro Week Online Astronomy Quiz Competition - வானவியல் வார வினாடி வினாப் போட்டி

வானவியல் வாரத்தை முன்னிட்டு நடாத்தப்பட்ட Online  வினாடி வினாப்  போட்டி பெப்ரவரி மாதம் 18ம் திகதி பாடசாலை ஸ்மார்ட் வகுப்பறைகளில் நடைபெற்றது. இதில் பத்து குழுக்கள் பங்குபற்றி இருந்தன. அண்ணளவாக 100 மாணவர்கள் இதில் பங்கேற்று இருந்தனர். போட்டி 5 சுற்றுகளாக நடைபெற்றது. 5 சுற்றுகளிலும் பெற்ற புள்ளிகளின் அடிப்படையில் முதல் மூன்று இடத்தை பிடித்த அணிகள்  இறுதிப் போட்டிக்கு தகுதியினைப் பெற்றனர். அதனடிப்படையில் Helix , Orion  மற்றும் Saturn அணிகள் இறுதிப்  போட்டிக்கு தெரிவாகின. இறுதிப் போட்டி  வானவியல் வாரத்தின் இறுதிநாள் இரவில் நடைபெற்றது.

Smart Class Progress Review Meeting with Grade 6,7 & 8 Teachers

E Learning Circle had organised a progress review meeting of Smart Classroom Development on 14th Feb 2020 at the multimedia room. Teachers who teach in the Smart Classrooms had participated in the meeting. We discussed the progress of the smart classroom and how we can further develop our system to achieve the vision. Mr. M.J.M Saneer, the vice principal and the counselor had addressed the meeting. After the meeting, new decisions has been taken to develop the system.

 

Many students has registered for Astro Week through online application

The first event of the Astro Week commenced on 13th February 2020. The Science Club of Sulaimaniya College has organised this event. To participate in the programmes, students were asked to registered through online. More than 170 students registered through online. Now students are getting familiar with the online application. Use online application was very helpful for organizers to arrange the event efficiently and successfully.

The first event was Water Rocket launching competition. The idea of the event was to increase the students' interest in the STEM education. There were more than 40 Sulaimaniyan astronomers launched thier rocket to space. Most of the rockets were launched successfully. There were fails ones too but students learned lesson from them. They found the reason behind the failures of their rocket.

Other events of the Astro Week will be held on coming week. Upcoming events are Online Quiz and Documentary, Sway Presentation and Fun Photoshooting and Stargazing and Camfire with AR and VR tour.

Call for applications for the Astronomy Week organised by Science Club

Science Club of Sulaimaniya College has planned to organize an Astronomy Week from 13th February 2020 to 18th February 2020. There are many events with technology. Therefore we ask students to register on or before 11th Feburary 2020. Further information can be collected from your science teachers.

Sulaimaniya College Wins Top Smart School Award in the Nenasa Smart School 2019.

Nenasa Smart School Awards 2019 Grand Finale was held at Dialog Auditorium in Colombo on 1st February 2020. This grant event was successfully organised by Heasdtart (PVT) Ltd and Dialog Axiata PLC. 

The selected schools from semi finals were competed in the grand finale. The competition was held in four categories. Sulaimaniya college has competed in the Smart School and A.M Rajah has participated in the Smart Ambassador category. Sulaimaniya college has given its best effort to win the title of Smart School of the year 2019. The competition was very tight and finally we won the 5th place and awarded with the Top Smart School in 2019. The ambassador teacher A.M Rajah won the 3rd place in the smart ambassador category. 

It was a great experience and opportunity for School to shine in the national level competition.
